Ananta Shi Ye: who is Shi Ye and what we know

Shi Ye is one of the six playable characters officially presented for Ananta: the Captain's childhood friend, someone with plenty of ideas and plenty of tech^[1]. The official names are 時夜 in Japanese and 时夜 in Chinese^[1][2]. Like every playable character, Shi Ye is obtained by playing, not through a gacha^[3][4].

Who is Shi Ye in Ananta?

The official website introduces Shi Ye as the Captain's childhood friend, full of ideas and gadgets^[1]. The quote on the character card sums up how the duo works: "I handle the cash, you handle the fighting"^[1]. The Chinese official site presents the same character under the name 时夜^[2].

That is the full official description today. The card does not go further, and no detailed biography has been shared in the sources we follow. We do not fill the gaps with guesses: when NetEase publishes more, this page will be updated.

What has been shown of Shi Ye?

Shi Ye appears among the six playable characters on the official site, next to the Captain, Taffy, Richie, Wei Yinglong and Seymour^[1]. Ananta lets you switch between several characters, each with a story of their own. The developers told TechRadar that a character you are not controlling "continues to live their own life"^[4], and PC Gamer also describes this switching between characters rather than a fast team-swap in combat^[5].

On the audio side, the Steam page lists full voice acting in English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Korean for the game as a whole^[6]. There is no French, Spanish, German or Portuguese dub.

How do you get Shi Ye?

By playing. Ananta has no character gacha: first reported by Famitsu and relayed by AUTOMATON, then repeated by the developers, all playable characters are obtained for free through gameplay and story progression^[3][4][5]. The game is free-to-play^[6], and monetization focuses on cosmetics such as outfits, with home and vehicle customization also cited^[3][4].

At which point in the story Shi Ye becomes playable has not been announced.
