- Press says Chongxiao draws on Hangzhou and Shanghai, with lakes, tea villages and historic architecture[2][3].
Chongxiao is the second city of Ananta, revealed in the Launch Date Trailer at Gamescom 2026[2][3][8]. It includes Lingyun, a riverside area where ancient and modern architecture mix, and where the story unfolds according to the Chinese official site[1][4]. Here is what NetEase has published about it, and what comes from the press.
What is Chongxiao?
Ananta has two cities: Nova City and Chongxiao (重霄)[1][4][5]. The official site presents Chongxiao as the player's home town, reached by plane[1][5]. Where Nova City is described by the press as Tokyo-like, Chongxiao draws on Hangzhou and Shanghai, with lakes, tea villages and historic architecture[2][3].
The city was first shown on August 25, 2026, at Gamescom Opening Night Live, in the trailer that also announced the January 15, 2027 release date[3][8]. Our trailers page lists every video.
What is the difference between Chongxiao and Lingyun?
Chongxiao is the city; Lingyun (凌云) is an area within it[1][4]. The official site describes Lingyun as a riverside area where ancient and modern mix, and the Chinese site says the story takes place in "Lingyun of Chongxiao"[1][4].
Which districts and places are in Chongxiao?
The official site details three locations so far[1]:
| Location | Chinese name | What the official site says |
|---|---|---|
| Mingpu District (Lingyun) | 明浦区 | "The Future Waits for No One": glass skyscrapers next to brick houses, the Lingjing Supervisory Agency and tech firms under Zenith Tower |
| Weilan Lake (Lingyun) | 未澜湖 | A scenic lake with the Bachong Pagoda and a century-old legend; Broadcast Goose appears here |
| Longqi Village | 龙栖村 | A small tea town of white walls and black tiles that keeps a simpler lifestyle |
Our districts page gathers these cards with the Nova City ones.
Who lives in Chongxiao?
Two figures are tied to the city on the official site[1]:
- Wei Yinglong, a playable character, is Lingyun's 21st Director. She manages the temple, tries to keep her sister out of trouble and lives around Longqi Village. See her character page.
- Tie Shan, a martial arts figure from Longqi Village, whose card reads "Train more, and you'll get stronger".
Has anyone played in Chongxiao?
Yes. The press demo at Gamescom 2026 included a story segment centered on Wei Yinglong and exploration of Chongxiao, according to Automaton[6]. That demo was held in the Gamescom business area. There has been no open beta[2].
Will there be more cities after Chongxiao?
Possibly. In December 2025, before Chongxiao was revealed, the developers told TechRadar that the city "remains incomplete" and would be expanded gradually, with possible future maps based on other Asian locations[7]. No third city has been announced. How you travel between Nova City and Chongxiao beyond the plane has not been detailed either; read our Nova City guide for the first city.
Updates
- Checked the official site's location cards (English and Chinese) and the Gamescom 2026 coverage: Mingpu, Weilan Lake and Longqi Village are still the only detailed locations.
