The short version

  • 15 vehicles are named in official texts or previews: cars, taxis, buses, subway, helicopters, motorbikes, mopeds, skateboards, bicycles, e-scooters, hover cars, hang gliders, boats, planes and a wingsuit[2][3][10].
  • Driving is arcade: cars drift, nearly flip in chases, and a respawn button puts a stuck car back on the road[5][9].
  • No preview shows the player stealing a car. Only Richie is described as able to commandeer vehicles[4].

In Ananta you can drive cars, ride motorbikes, take the bus or the subway, fly in a helicopter, sail and swing between buildings[1][2]. NetEase sums up the movement system with one line on Steam: "If you can see it, you can go there"[1]. Below, every vehicle seen so far, with the source of each line, then how driving feels and what the press says about stealing cars.

Which vehicles are in Ananta?

Official lines come from NetEase's Tokyo Game Show press release of 22 September 2025, which lists "subways and buses, along with cars, taxis, and helicopters"[2]. The others were seen in the Gamescom 2026 launch date trailer (25 August 2026) or in hands-on previews.

How does driving work, and do cars take damage?

Previews describe arcade driving. AXYO, which played the Gamescom 2026 demo, writes that the car "drifted and slid in an unrealistic way", which suited the over-the-top action[9]. Inven Global played a Nova City chase: with Lyca at the wheel, the car nearly flips over before the hero takes the driver's seat[5]. When the car got stuck in construction materials, a respawn button (R) put it back in the middle of the road, as in arcade racing games[5].

Shooting from vehicles is confirmed: Automaton recalls a Tokyo Game Show 2025 sequence chaining a fight, a gun battle on top of a car, driving and a wire action QTE[11][4]. No preview describes a damage model, deformation or breakdowns, so we do not know whether cars can be destroyed. Fights with vehicles are covered in our combat guide.

How do you get around without a vehicle?

  • Swinging and grappling: the Captain uses tentacle-like appendages to swing between buildings, climb walls and launch from grapple points. PCGamesN compares it to the Spider-Man games[8][4].
  • Parkour and climbing: NetEase talks about a free "3C" system (character, camera, control) to reach anywhere in sight[2]. No stamina bar is mentioned.
  • Public transport: the subway and buses are official[2]; no preview details lines or stations.
  • Flight: wingsuit and hang gliders[1][3].

Can you steal cars in Ananta?

Not confirmed. No Gamescom 2026 preview we read shows the player pulling a driver out of a car. The closest statement is from PC Gamer: Richie, an ACD officer, "can arrest people and commandeer vehicles"[4]. Whether this is a story ability or a free action in the open world, and whether there are police chases, is still unknown.

Do characters use vehicles differently?

Yes. Taffy is a delivery girl on a motorbike[6], and PC Gamer lists her "motorbike-chucking" among the unique attacks[4]. Richie commandeers vehicles[4]. Street racing is a confirmed activity, and the official site describes the Veluxity Zone as a district of street racing[6]. The developers cite vehicle customization among cosmetics[7], and a Car Paint Selector is a pre-registration reward[6][3]. More in our page on city activities.

What is still unknown?

  • Official vehicle names and the full list.
  • Whether cars are bought, stolen or unlocked, and whether fast travel exists.
  • Damage and police response.

We update this guide when NetEase or new previews share more.

Updates

  • Added a sourced table of 15 vehicles (TGS 2025 press release, Gamescom 2026 trailer and previews), driving and damage, traversal without vehicles and car theft. Re-read PC Gamer, Inven Global, PCGamesN, AXYO, Wccftech, Game8 and Automaton.
  • Checked the Steam page, the TGS 2025 press release and Game8's report: no official full vehicle list yet.
