Ananta FAQ: release date, platforms, gacha, beta and more

Ananta comes out on January 15, 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, iOS and Android, and it is free-to-play with no character gacha^[1][2][4]. Below are short answers to the questions players ask most, each with a link to the full article.

When and where can you play Ananta?

When does Ananta come out?

On January 15, 2027, worldwide. The date was announced at Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026^[1][7]. The launch hour has not been announced yet. Everything is in our release date guide.

Which platforms is Ananta on?

PC (Steam and NetEase's own launcher), PlayStation 5, iOS and Android, plus PlayStation Cloud streaming listed on the official site^[1][3]. What PC do I need?

Nobody knows for sure yet. Steam lists Windows 10/11 64-bit and still shows "TBD" for the processor and graphics card^[2]. Press figures (GTX 1060 minimum, RTX 3080 recommended) are unofficial. DLSS 4.5 support is confirmed^[6]. Full details in our PC requirements.

Is Ananta free, and does it have gacha?

Is Ananta free?

Yes. Steam lists it as Free To Play^[2].

Does Ananta have gacha?

There is no character gacha: every playable character is unlocked through gameplay and the story^[4][3]. Money comes from cosmetics such as outfits, but whether they are sold directly or randomized is not confirmed^[3]. More in free-to-play and gacha. Is Ananta available in other languages?

Yes for text, less so for voices. Steam lists 16 languages for menus and subtitles, including French, German, Spanish and Portuguese (Portugal)^[2]. Voice acting is only in English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Korean^[2]. Brazilian Portuguese is not in the list. See Ananta languages.

Can you play Ananta with friends?

Is there cross-play or cross-save?

Partly. Since early October 2026, the Steam page lists Cross-Platform Multiplayer^[2], so players on different platforms should be able to meet. NetEase has not said which platforms will play together, and shared progress between PC, PS5 and mobile (cross-save) is still not confirmed^[5]. Details on our platforms and cross-play page.

Is there multiplayer or co-op?

Partly. Ananta is built around a single-player story, but its Steam page now lists Single-player, MMO, Online Co-op and Cross-Platform Multiplayer^[2]. At the Tokyo Game Show 2025, the developers said Ananta is not an MMO and that they are studying a four-player co-op mode, with no date announced^[12][13]. No offline mode has been announced. Can you try Ananta before launch?

How do you pre-register?

On the official website, choosing PC, console or mobile^[1][3]. More than 17.2 million players in 110 countries and regions had signed up by August 2026^[7][5], and milestone rewards include currency, a dye, a profile card and a character outfit^[1]. See pre-registration.

Is there a beta?

No open beta has been held, and none is expected before launch^[3]. The only confirmed player test was a small offline PC test in China in January 2025^[10]; a closed beta in January 2026 was only reported through a leak^[11]. The full story is in our test history.

Who is making Ananta?

Ananta is developed by Naked Rain, a subsidiary of NetEase's Thunder Fire Studio, and published by NetEase Games^[9][2][8]. It was first shown as Project Mugen at Gamescom 2023^[9].
